Victoria Park West has a diverse selection of beautiful, well-maintained spaces. It is home to the popular boating lake, Pavilion Café and Sunday farmers market. This side of the park has a large and popular playground located close to Grove Road, built as part of the 2011 Heritage Lottery refurbishments.
The west side has a wide array of spaces, from large event fields to enchanting enclosed areas. It boasts some of the park’s most attractive landscaping and features, to suit a variety of events.
The Glade and Pagoda are ideal for intimate events. Royal Gate West Field is a sizeable, flat open space, ideal for small to medium size events. Shore Field is the largest event space, suitable for medium scale activities.
From boutique events to festivals, Victoria Park West is the perfect location for your bespoke event.
Chinese Pagoda Island
The Chinese Pagoda is one of the park’s most iconic landmarks. Set on a peaceful island on an ornamental lake, it is an oasis of calm. The surroundings provide a stunning backdrop for your event. Linked to the park by two bridges, it is perfect for intimate events. The pagoda can be hired for your exclusive use. It is suitable for small blessing ceremonies, as well as corporate parties and promotional activities.
Damaged in World War Two, the original Victorian structure was demolished in the 1950s. The pagoda was restored during Heritage Lottery Fund renovations in 2011. A new bridge was built to architect James Pennethorne's original designs.
The island sits in the West Boating Lake. It is easily accessible from Crown Gate West, Royal Gate West, and Bonner Gate. There is no vehicle access onto the island, though you may unload nearby. The bridge has access restrictions, so limited infrastructure can be carried onto the island.
The Glade
This charming secret garden has a beautiful lawn, enclosed by mixed shrub borders and mature trees. It is one of the few truly private spaces in Victoria Park, which you can hire for your exclusive use. This secluded area is perfect for small, self-contained corporate events and private parties.
Located to the west of the boating lake, The Glade is accessible from the southern drive opposite Bonner Gate. It is a short walk along the southern drive from Crown Gate West. Vehicle access is limited, due to a narrow entrance and surrounding tree canopy. You can unload immediately outside the space. Vehicle access is via Gore Gate or Crown Gate West.
Royal Gate West Field
This field is a large, open, flat lawn area benefitting from high footfall. North of the ornamental lake, it is a picturesque and busy location. Close to Royal Gate West, with easy access from Grove Road, it is ideal for attracting passers-by. It has hosted events such as film screenings and is a popular location for promotional activity due to its high footfall. The space is next to the northern drive, a main pedestrian and cycling route. It is suitable for small to medium corporate events and promotional activations. Production access is via nearby Royal Gate West.
Shore Field
Shore Field is the largest event space on the west side. One of the most beautiful parts of the park, with plenty of character and natural charm, it is the perfect location for medium scale events.
Shore Field is ideal for a diverse range of events. These include food and music events, wellness activities and corporate events such as picnics and sports days. Previous events have included an arts and crafts festival.
This space is close to Bonner and Gore gates. St Agnes Gate is a convenient production entrance, with some restrictions for very wide vehicles.
